The research led by Harald Carlens brought a comprehensive review of the competitive ML landscape and analyzed over 200 competitions that took place last year. With a deep dive analysis of 67 winning solutions, they identified the best strategies to win at competitive ML.
A few key takeaways:
- Over 80% of competition winners used GPUs to train their models, some required significant hardware investment
- Almost all of the winners used Python or PyTorch
- The NVIDIA® GeForce™ RTX 3090 was one of the most popular GPUs among winners.
